Agriculture has long been recognized as one of the most hazardous occupations. Illinois has over 500,000 people directly and indirectly involved in production agriculture. The combination of workplace hazards, a “greying” farm population and limited access to health information makes Illinois’ agricultural sector more susceptible to health problems and work-related injuries. At risk are:

  • Farm Operators
  • Farm Employees
  • Seasonal Workers
  • Family members

Every year over 200 farmers, farm workers and associated family members are affected by a form of permanent disability from causes such as:

  • Arthritis
  • Stroke
  • Diabetes
  • Injury
  • Stroke
  • Vision/Hearing Impairment
  • Respiratory Ailment
  • Chemical Exposure
